Minimum Required Qualification:
NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or Adult Senior Certificate) with Maths and Science (Higher Grade).
Blasting Certificate
Successfully completed SCO theory exam.
The Appointee should:
Two years’ relevant underground mining experience.
One year underground practical SCO experience (post passing the SCO theory exam).
Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
Clear security screening record
Advantageous Qualifications:
Chamber of Mines’ Strata Control Certificate recognized by SANIRE.
Mining relevant tertiary qualification (e.g B-Tech or BSc) an advantage
Computer skills (MS Office).
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure a thorough understanding of the service requirements related to operational strata control processes.
Participate in panel support audits through measuring and recording supports installed, i.e. distances, degrees, dips.
Ensure that all required equipment and material are available.
Gather underground data. Apply Rock Engineering criteria.
Observe and determine relevant geology and mining practices or conditions.
Assign numbers to geological conditions (Rock Mass Rating).
Record, capture and maintain data and information for referencing and decision-making purposes.
Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures
Report on data and information gathered.
Compile reports and statistical summaries of data and information.
Report unexpected problems to the relevant stakeholders.
Make recommendations to increase the safety and productivity of the mining environment.
Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
Adhere to strata control practices and principles. Adhere to standardization requirements related to strata control services and support.
Complete all necessary administration required.
Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organization and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.
Ensures that costs are controlled and wastage of resources is eliminated by working within prescribed budgets
